Heather K. W. grew up in California before moving to the Pacific Northwest for college. She wrote her first poem in sixth grade, an ode to her favorite animal, the bobcat. She continued writing throughout adolescence and adulthood, often turning to poetry as a way to make sense of emotions that were difficult to put into words.
Writing has always come more naturally to her than speaking, allowing her to express things she might not otherwise say. Many of the poems in her first poetry collection began this way, as diary entries. Her poems explore themes of heartbreak, loss, trauma, and recovery.
Heather loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer, beautiful sprayed edge books, tending to her roses, and spending time with her fur babies. In her spare time, she loves to read (mostly fantasy), craft, listen to music, and watch TV. She is currently working on her second poetry collection and has several novels waiting patiently in the background.
